Water Systems Maintenance and Care

Dissolved forms of lime and other salts are present in almost all water, and limescale is the main cause of hard water. The precipitation and crystallisation of minerals occur based on the amount of lime or calcium carbonate, dissolved carbonic acid, and water temperature, resulting in deposits on surface areas. These deposits reduce heat transfer in exchangers and can significantly lower the efficiency of heating installations and cooling systems.

Pressure loss and decreased flow rates are also symptoms of limescale in a water boiler. Accumulated calcium in pipes and plumbing fittings can lead to clogs, rendering them partially or completely dysfunctional. If the water has a high mineral content, it will take less than a month for calcium deposits to accumulate in and around the pipes and plumbing fittings.
